IANS employees underwent training in an effort to implement software development methodology based on DO-178C

In April 2014 IANS started the active phase of its DO-178C methodology implementation project. An integrated solution based on IBM Rational line of products has been deployed on the company hardware. At the same time employee training in the areas of requirement management, development platforms and version control software has been completed.

Modern development of onboard avionics software faces challenges such as a continuous increase of system complexity, high requirement volume and information growth, emergence of new standards in aviation safety and software design. Efforts to adhere to all standards and consider all aspects of certification make the software design and development process considerably more difficult. Thus, new information technologies are needed.

In today’s demanding new environment, to successfully deal with increased complexity, a new approach to system design and development is needed. Furthermore, there is a need for flexible, adaptive complex solutions that are capable of solving problems in their interrelation and dynamics.

The Information System of Requirement Management (ISRM) capitalizes on the following IBM Rational products: DOORS, DOORS Web Access, Team Concert и Publishing Engine. The ISRM is designed to streamline aircraft design processes, lower development time and cost, increase product quality and reliability and simplify the certification process by providing automated standard requirement and development process compliance documents.
