EUROCAE ED-250 Published
European Organisation for Civil Aviation Equipment (EUROCAE) has published ED-250 "Minimum Operational Performance Standards (MOPS) for a Runway Overrun Awareness and Alerting System (ROAAS)". The document sums up almost 2 years of intense work and discussions within the working group WG-101, where IANS is represented by its leading technical experts.
ED-250 defines system characteristics and requirements for Runway Overrun Awareness and Alerting System that is intended to reduce risk of overrun during landing by providing a timely and distinctive alert to the flight crew when the airplane is at risk of not being able to stop on the available distance to the end of the runway. The document should be useful to designers, manufacturers, installers, certification authorities and users of the Equipment.
IANS is presently working to adapt the document for Russian specialists.
