BANS Took Part in HeliRussia 2018

From May 24 to May 26, 2018, the XI International helicopter industry exhibition HeliRussia 2018 was held at Crocus Expo, Moscow, where BANS exhibited its prototype of the helicopter onboard situational awareness system for helicopter crews (BSSO-B) for the first time.

Russian Nationwide UAV Exhibition and Conference at IANS Aerodrome

Russian Nationwide Exhibition and Conference “Unmanned Aerial Technologies for the Russian Fuel & Energy Sector” will be hosted by IANS on May 31, 2018 at Orlovka Aerodrome. The event is held under the auspices of the Russian Ministry of Energy.

IANS Remote Video Surveillance System Receives IAC Certificate

The Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) has certified the first Russian remote video surveillance system developed by IANS. Similar certification activities are also being carried out by the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya).

UAV automated data
processing systems

Steady growth of UAV production has been noticed worldwide. For example, according to the statistics published in UVS International 2008 annual report, UAV number all around the world has doubled for the period of 5 years (from 2004 to 2009).

Meanwhile there is a steady growth of requirements to self-descriptiveness of imagery information transmitted from board. Shared use of different airborne sensors such as TV, thermal, radio stations with synthetic aperture, laser radar stations.

Customers’ tendency to receive information with maximum interference protection and informativeness comes into contradiction with manual decoding of constantly growing video data streams. The world’s leading manufacturers of UAV spend significant amounts of money for automation of imagery data processing. Therefore the issue of automated processing of data formed by primary UAV sensors is rather urgent.


JSC "International Aero Navigation Systems Concern" develops following key activities which ensure formation of automated data processing systems:

  • Development of automated subsystems for different sensors’ data complexing.

    Purpose: reduction of primary data flow based on unique interconnected imagery by using data from several sensors. Interconnected imaging in compliance with interference protection and informativeness maximization.

  • Development of automated subsystems for selection of moving ground based objects.

    Purpose: automated detection from board of a moving object (in general based on interconnected imagery), objects with arbitrary forms, dimensions and contrasts which are moving related to underlying surface.

  • Development of automated subsystems of stationary ground based objects’ identification.

    Purpose: structured analysis of imagery using targets’ abstract representation. Detection and identification of ground based objects of different classes.

  • Development of expert systems for priority rating of interpreted imagery information.

    Purpose: automated classification of data transmitted by subsystems based on expert criteria of storm level’s gradation. Automated maintenance of decision making. Video data marking for further analysis of information by an operator.

Current Status of Realization:
  • Experts of the Concern have developed software and algorithms support for complexing of information of 2-dimensional sensors of different sizes based on stochastic and heuristic models which minimize data loss of inverting image areas. Developed software allows to realize complexation of static images and video streams.
  • Experts have developed: methods and filtration software and algorithms support.

    Purpose: Automated detection of small-sized moving ground based objects from board of a moving object as well as on the base of a wide-angle camera without stabilization of its optical axis.

  • Experts have developed: methods and filtration software and algorithms support for sample signals in conditions of spatial inhomogeneity.

    Purpose: Automated detection of low-contrast area objects by sample images in conditions of special inhomogeneity.

  • Experts have developed: the structure and realization of UAV primary sensors’ automated data processing

  • Full circle of information processing: from filtration of primary sensor signal to its interpretation and storage.
  • Possibility for complexing of data from primary sensors with following processing of interconnected imageries.
  • Possibility of deep automation for detection of moving ground based objects in order to control problematic areas and borders.
